Our customers used Chamness Brand Compost, and were able to take poor clay ground, incorporate four inches of compost into the soil and then top dress with about an inch to give them a good seed bed. When seeded, the soil produced a decent grass stand on the driving range. They also used 1/2" to 1" as top dressing on soccer fields to help thicken the grass for a safer and better playing sports surface.
