    TURNING COMPOST
    Chamness uses compost windrow turners to produce compost on a large scale. As our compost turners move through the windrow, fresh oxygen is brought into the compost by the process of turning. The oxygen feeds the aerobic bacteria and thus speeds the composting process.
    Chamness Organics Recycling and Composting
    • As organic feedstocks are received at our facilities, they are processed and combined with other organic materials into the appropriate mixtures for composting.  Once composted and cured, the compost is marketed for various horticultural and agricultural applications.
    • The current Eddyville, IA compost site includes 18 acres of asphalt and the Dodge City, KS site includes a 24 acre compacted clay pad for material processing and active composting.
    Compost Markets.
    • Along with providing additional nutrients to the soil, compost improves the soil’s ability to hold water, cation exchange, microbial population diversity and tilth.
    Horticultural and agricultural uses of compost include greenhouses, gardening, landscaping, turf establishment, erosion control, soil remediation and all types of crop production and vegetation establishment.
