In celebration of ICAW, Governor Terry Branstad will sign a proclamation recognizing the week long celebration and recognizing Chamness Technology for all the work they perform in the field of composting in the state.

Students from Iowa City took to the capitol to encourage legislators to consider legislation that would make composting mandatory in restaurants. Chamness Technology, Inc. and GreenRU helped the students to do a waste audit at the capitol.

Chamness Technology, Inc. entered into a misdemeanor plea agreement with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa regarding an environmental issue at the company's Eddyville, Iowa facility. Chamness Technology Creative Director Emily Bibler was recognized by the US Composting Council (USCC) as the 2012 International Compost Awareness Week poster contest winner. Contestants were challenged to visually portray the theme, "Compost! ...Replenish the Earth for Generations".
